Time flies when you’re having fun, and now we’re back home from our little Europe Tripp. And what a trip it was! It may have been the most active holiday I’ve ever been to. We have seen so many beautiful places and we’ve had so much fun! :)
We took the ferry to Kiel and then we continued down to Berlin where we stayed for a couple of days. The same day as the winning German soccer team came home from the World Cup. A real festival! So many people in motion, happy and painted faces waving with the German flags. We strolled a lot, shopped, went sightseeing with the “hop on, hop off bus”, ate a lot of currywurst, schnitzel and drank a lot of good beer. Then we went to “Tropical Island” a bit outside Berlin. It’s like a huge indoor-Thailand/playground. Where we were swimming around in different pools, water slides and in lagoons, ate a lot of tasty food, relaxed and slept in a tent on the beach. Such a cool experience!
After that we drove to Italy where we stayed at the Garda lake in five days. Incredible beautiful! A huge turquoise lake surrounded of high mountains. We rented bikes, strolled around, were at wine tastings, ate good, swam and sunbathed. There, we also tried canyoning for the first time. May be among the funniest thing I’ve ever done! We climbed in the mountains, jumped into lagoons, repelled down from a 50 m high waterfall, Slipped down through the rapids. Full speed and adrenaline in a incredibly beautiful environment. Highly recommended! So much fun! :) We also took a day trip to Venice. I’ve never been there before so it was fun to see with my own eyes. Like a post card! Such a cozy city with all the alleys and canals.
After Italy, we spent our last time in Mayrhofen, Austria. I could move there. We didn’t wanna go back home! Everything was so beautiful and all the people were so nice! We walked and walked and then we walked some more. Our eyes were as big as golf balls all the time. We also rented mountain bikes that we brought up to the top with the cable lift. We rode down from mountains, higher than Swedens highest mountain Kebnekaise. It really went at full speed! Our brakes glowed! I must admit I was a bit scared there sometimes.
Then we packed the car again. Full of lovely holiday memories and drove all the way back to Sweden again (with the audio book at maximum volume).
Back home in Gothenburg we woke up a little tender (from all the exercise), but very happy, fully fueled with inspiration! Now I have so many ideas for new illustrations so I almost don’t know where to begin. I’m really looking forward to this fall. So many exciting projects around the corner!
Hope you all had a wonderful summer! :)
And here are some pictures from our holiday.
